ALMA KAMKE Peacefully, in the early morning hours of Wednesday, August 24, 2005, Alma Kamke passed away at the age of 83 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Emmanuel (1962) and Emma (1985); her brothers, Arnold (1986), Art (1995), Victor (1997) and Clarence (2001); and sisters-in-law, Helen (1995) and Emilie (2003) and brother-in-law Tommy. She is survived by her sister Linda Ryman and her brothers, Harold and Ben of Libau, MB and Lawrence (Norma) of Calgary, AB; numerous nieces and nephews and special friend, Colleen Byron. Alma was born in the village of Libau on September 8, 1921 and spent her life on the family farm doing what she loved best, being outdoors, working in the garden and taking care of her animals. She was a very creative woman with a special talent for baking pies, doing petit point, needlepoint, crocheting and knitting. In 2000 she made the move to Tudor House in Selkirk when ill health made it impossible for her to live on her own any longer. The adjustment was not an easy one as she was very independent and asking for and receiving help was something she struggled to learn. She always had a smile, a joke or high five for the staff. Her unusual sense of humour kept them on their toes and in stitches most of the time. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 27 at 2:00 p.m. in the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Selkirk with Kirk Tastad officiating. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Special thanks to the staff at the Tudor Home for all their excellent care for the past five years. Her pallbearers will be Sid Kosack, Dale Kosack, Jordan Kamke, Rachel Hryb, Richard Toposzkiewicz, and David Kamke. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Good Shepherd Memorial Fund, Box 448, Selkirk, MB R1A 2B3. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
