LUELLA FRANKLIN It is with profound sorrow that we, the family of Luella Franklin announce her passing on August 24, 2005. Luella was born in 1913 in Corning, SK to Harry and Alma Moore. She lived in Corning until completion of school when she left home in search of employment. In 1936 while employed in Medicine Hat, she met her soulmate and lifelong love, Cecil Franklin. They married in 1937 and worked together in various locations throughout Saskatchewan and Alberta before relocating to Manitoba in 1946. They had the most wonderful of marriages and remained devoted to one another until Cecil's untimely death in 1980. They had two children, Beverley and Wayne. Luella was the ultimate homemaker. She devoted all her energies to making her home a happy and loving place in which to nurture and raise her children. She was the most marvellous cook and never complained when presented with additional dinner guests. Her motto was nothing is so small it cannot be divided and her family put this theory to the test time and time again. Her family was her passion and her life. A loving and tolerant mother, she was quick to praise and slow to criticize. She did, however, possess an iron and steadfast determination and if she decided she was going to do something, we all knew it would be done. She possessed a wonderful sense of humour that lasted until the very end and she never hesitated to laugh at herself. When she became a grandmother, she felt life was complete. She adored her handsome grandson and five beautiful granddaughters and they in turn adored her. She played an important role in their lives and developed a strong and loving bond with each one of them. Luella's hands were never idle. She excelled at sewing, knitting, crocheting and quilting. Family and friends have many treasured articles that Luella lovingly made. When at age 86 she learned she was to be a great-grandmother, for the first time she knit a shawl and made a hand-quilted carriage cover for the anticipated arrival. In failing health, Luella relocated to Boissevain in 1999 to be near family, living first at Westview Lodge and laterally at Evergreen Place. We extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Nell, Melanie Beard and the entire staff at Evergreen Place for their care and compassion in this most difficult of times. Predeceased by her parents, brother and husband, she leaves to mourn her passing and rejoice in her memory, her daughter Beverley Ransom (Brian) of Margaret and her son Wayne Franklin of Calgary. She also leaves her precious grandchildren, Kara-Lynn Savoie, Christopher (Tracey) Savoie, Andrea (Adam) Chester, Heather (Gavin) Jones, Erin Franklin and Lesley Franklin; great-granddaughters, Halle and Alexandra Chester; sisters, Marion Munro, Eva (Jack) Clark and sister-in-law Cassie Moore, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In keeping with Luella's wishes, a private burial will be held and she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Cecil. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Cancer Society or to the Diabetes Association. Rest in Peace, Mom.
