Date of Passing: Aug 23, 2005
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM STAROSILEC On Tuesday, August 23, 2005, Bill passed away at the Grace General Hospital at the age of 86 years. Remaining to cherish Bill's memory are his sister Mary Mandziuk (Bill); sister-in-law Mary Starosilec; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Bill was born in Winnipeg and lived in the North End until his short stay at Oakview Place. He was employed at the C.P.R. as a boiler maker's helper and then as an electrician in the diesel shop. In his younger years, he was an excellent swimmer and became a lifeguard at Sherbrook Pool. Swimming seemed effortless for him and he was known to swim from Whytewold to Winnipeg Beach for exercise. Bill was also a skilled carpenter, meticulous with every detail. He loved to play cards and was an avid and varied reader. Bill played a mean game of checkers up to the end. He was fond of animals, especially his dog Sabre. Bill's uncomplaining nature made him an easy person to live with. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 1 at 1:00 p.m. in Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Ave. with Rev. Robert Webster officiating. For those wishing to attend, please gather at the cemetery entrance gates at 12:45 p.m. Our family wishes to thank Peter Carnegie, Jean, Larry, Nancy, Yuri and many others whose caring assistance enabled Bill to remain in his home for many years. We are also grateful to the kind staff at the Fred Douglas Lodge Adult Day Program and at Oakview Place. WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
