ERNA E. HAMON December 16, 1917 - August 28, 2005 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Erna Emma Hamon on August 28, 2005, following a lengthy illness. Erna is predeceased by her parents Franz and Frances Weber; most of her uncles and aunts; her brother Ernest Webber; two sisters, Helen Belair and Alma Grundy; her former husband Frank Hamon; her elder son Neil Hamon (Pat), and daughter-in-law Doreen Hughes. Erna is survived by her uncle Herb Webber (Em); younger son Rich Hamon (Connie); grandchildren, Andrea McKay, Tracy Wright (Darin), Stephanie Cabalt (Steve), Scott Hamon (Jen) and adopted grandson Joseph Stonechild Hamon. She also leaves behind precious great-grandchildren, Jade, Taylor, Sydne, Morgan, Jazmin, Ethan and Isaac, as well as nieces and nephews with their families. Erna was born in the small farming community of Zener, SK. She grew up in nearby Regina, where she married and started life-long friendships. During his career, her husband Frank's job with C.P. Rail took them also to Moose Jaw, Saskatoon, Trail, Nelson, Winnipeg, Vancouver and back again to Winnipeg, where she finally settled. In her life, Erna sometimes worked to supplement the family income, primarily as a caterer. She was gifted as a cook and homemaker, as well as a doting mother and grandmother. Nary a speck escaped her vacuum, nor a piece of paper left out of place, nor any child's wish left unfulfilled. She was a perfect Mom, and remained devoted to her family all her life. Her meticulous sewing and knitting will be passed down for many generations to enjoy. Erna also had a passion for dancing, and belonged to many square dance clubs in Winnipeg and Vancouver. This was an activity shared with her husband and later with her true blue friend, Les Archibald. She met and easily befriended many while dancing. Other group activities included bowling, curling, cards, crafts and golf, to each of which she contributed as a volunteer. Nothing in her hands was imperfect or left undone. Many will also remember Erna as enjoying humour. As an elderly person, she kept people entertained with wry quips. She could also speak her mind about things not appreciated, but that could be done in an amusing manner too. We loved her either way, and will all miss her so very much. Funeral services to honour Erna's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 2 at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. (between Pembina and Waverley), Winnipeg. All friends are invited to attend. Donations, if so desired, can be sent to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Family members would like to express special thanks for the excellent loving care received from staff at the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg. Bless you all!
