Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJULIA LEWIS (nee KRAWETZ) January 6, 1919 - August 26, 2005 On August 26, 2005, at the Concordia Hospital, Julia Lewis, our beloved aunt and sister-in-law, passed away at the age of 86 years. Predeceased by her parents, Anne and George; brother Stan; and husband Frank. She leaves to mourn and cherish her memory her sister-in-law Jeanne Krawetz; and dearly beloved nephew Greg Krawetz; and niece Karen (Doug) Desrochers, Kelly and Shawn of Barrie, ON; as well as relatives, friends and neighbours who will miss her dearly. A lifelong resident of Transcona since her birth on January 6, 1919, Julia was proud of the fact that she was among the first few babies actually born and registered in the Town of Transcona. She was issued her first driver's license in 1937 and had the original license along with her 2005 license. Julia was involved in the family business, Transcona Fuel, with her brother Stan for many years. In August 1940 she married Frank and they had enjoyed 51 years together. Julia dearly loved her small immediate family. She praised and enjoyed the wonderful meals prepared and supplied by her sister-in-law Jeanne. She appreciated the time and devotion she received from her nephew Greg. Her beloved niece Karen (Doug), Kelly and Shawn were dearly missed as they resided in Barrie. She was pleased to have had a visit with them this summer and loved to proudly show pictures of Karen's beautiful children. Julia was a lifetime member of the Catholic Women's League of St. Joseph the Worker Parish. She had enjoyed the fellowship, visits, encouragements and prayers she shared with these members, who will provide an honour guard at her mass. Funeral mass will be conducted by Father Richard Machura on Saturday, September 3 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 505 Brewster, Transcona. Interment to follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery, north Main Street. Pallbearers will be Douglas and David Klippel, Morris Kulbaba, Bill L. and Bill D. Verasky and Doug Desrochers. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, memorial donations made in Julia's memory to St. Joseph the Worker Parish would be appreciated. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
