JOHN HAUCKE May 14, 1948 - August 28, 2005 Peacefully on August 28, 2005, John Haucke passed away at the age of 57 at the St. Boniface Hospital with family at his side. John was predeceased by his mother Edith in 2004. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Berta; children, Lissa (Tony), Robert (Agata) and Laura (Danny); his father Emil; grandchildren, Cassie, Nicole, Ivette, Hayden and Lissa; sisters, Lissi (Scotti) and Inger (Jorgen); nieces and nephews and numerous friends. John was born in Frederikshavn, Danmark, in 1948 and immigrated to Canada 10 years later where he lived in Oakville, MB, before moving to East Braintree, MB. In 1969 he married Berta and together raised three children while residing in St. James for the past 35 years. John established many lifelong friends throughout his employment with Paul's Hauling and Reimer's Express before health issues forced an early retirement. He enjoyed spending time with Berta at Hilmar Venture when able to. John was a devoted family man who always ensured laughter was a big part of our lives. Driving was his passion, both professionally and leisurely. John took a lot of pride in his home and his yard and loved to host barbecues for family and friends. He had a big heart for animals and could never say no to a stray. His honesty and strength was a continuous reminder of our admiration for him. The family wishes to extend their sincerest thanks to the staff at St. Boniface Hospital, especially the MICU nurses, Dr. Azevedo, Dr. Tam and Estrellita for their exceptional care and constant concern. A memorial service is planned for Friday, September 2 at 1:00 p.m. at the Messiah Lutheran Church, 400 Rouge Rd., Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Winnipeg Humane Society. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
