WILLIAM (BILL) LOEWEN (Will - as his friends and family knew him) Peacefully on Saturday, August 27, 2005 at the Portage General Hospital with his family by his side, Bill went to be with the lord at the age of 74. Bill was born in Hague, SK in 1931 and the family later moved to Clarkleigh, MB. He later moved to Winnipeg and married his first wife Betty, they had five children and later divorced. In 1975, he married Elsie Nault. They raised their nine children in Winnipeg and Portage. Bill loved country music and good times with his friends. He will sadly be missed by all of his family and friends. Bill was predeceased by his parents Henry and Maria, his first wife Betty, three young brothers, Benny, Isaac and David; special twin Jake; adult brothers, Isaac and David, Abraham, Danny, George and his sister Helen. He leaves to mourn his passing wife Elsie; children, Bill of Surrey, BC, Edith (Ray) Morisette, Lillian (Nick) Borowsky, Henry, all of Winnipeg, Helen (Mark) Luben of BC; grandchildren, Jamie (Chris) Hilker, Kevin, Robert, Jenny, Nicholaus, Joey, William, Sarah, Chelsea and Alex; his stepchildren, Lorna (Darrell) Nicholson, Lawrence, Doreen (Larry) Pugh, Joanne (Troy) Finlayson; stepgrandchildren, Luisa, Johanna, Ethan, Lawrence, Karisten, Brandon and Tye. Also special grandchildren Paul and Katherine whom he was raising. He also leaves behind his brothers, Henry (Ann) and Pete (Angie); his sisters, Mary (Dave) Kessler, Sarah (George) Wiebe and Eva (Alf) Janke. Also his sisters-in-law, Helen, Evelyn, Hilda and Florence Loewen; his mother-in-law Edna Nault; sisters-in-law, Lori Dyck and friend Bill Grover, Rose Davidson and Inez (Paul) Sereda; brothers-in-law, Ron (Judy) Nault and Vern (Donna) Nault; as well as many nieces and nephews. His pallbearers will be Greg Loewen, Jeff Loewen, Rod Kessler, Clifford and John McIntyre and Wally Reid. All of Will's family and friends will be considered honorary pallbearers. There will be a service remembering Will on Saturday, September 3, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in Cravings at the Portage La Prairie Mall, Portage La Prairie, MB, with Pastor Leon Fontaine officiating. Viewing will be one hour prior, with interment following the service in Clarkleigh, MB. Rock Fontaine Funeral Director in care of arrangements. (866) 499-2601 or (204) 223-2576.
