EDWARD CARL (TED) GROFF On Monday, August 29, 2005, Ted Groff of Sherwood Park, formerly of Winnipeg, peacefully went to be with the Lord at the age of 85. Ted will sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Eileen; his four daughters, Pat (James) Stansberry, Diane (Lloyd) Kuefler, Carol (Steve) Groff-Drury, and Joanne Neuman; his 12 grandchildren, Michael, Karen, Laura, Heather, Lindsay, Megan, Amy, Morgan, Taylor, Mathew (Jen), Daniel, and Sydney; sister, Lola Zeemel; sister-in-law, Gwen Groff; numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and countless friends, as well as his puppy dog Samantha. Ted served his country as a Lieutenant in the Canadian Navy during The Second World War. He was an avid athlete and was actively involved with the Winnipeg Canoe Club where he met Eileen. As a successful businessman in wholesale sporting goods with Groff Agency, Ted expanded the family business to Edmonton. Following his many years of service, he was awarded an Honorary Life Membership with Kiwanis International. Ted loved to spend time with his family at the lake, singing many songs around the bonfire, going on picnics, skiing, swimming and his fun geronimo's off the dock, doing jigsaw puzzles, and playing games and cards. Ted enjoyed teaching Sunday school at St. Paul's United Church. He will be remembered for his warm, generous heart, and a great sense of humour. At Ted's request family and friends are invited to a celebration of his life which will be held at his home in Sherwood Park on Saturday, September 3 at 2:00 p.m. Many thanks to the Get Set Program; staff at the Strathcona Day Program and Home Care; Grey Nuns Hospital, Unit 54, for being so kind and supportive to Ted and the family. In memory of Ted donations may be made to the Parkinson's Society of Alberta. HAINSTOCK'S FUNERAL HOME CREMATORIUM 1-780-440-2999.
