Together they raised four children in Fisher River until Leona got a job in Winnipeg to work for Health Canada. She worked there for six years and on October 2004 Leona was diagnosed with cancer. She had to quit her job from there on and had to travel back and forth, for her treatments, to Winnipeg, until her passing. Leona lived her life to the fullest. She had so many friends. God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be So He wrapped you in His loving arms and whispered come with Me You suffered much in silence, your spirit did not bend You faced your pain with courage, until the very end You tried so hard to be with us, your fight was all in vain God took you to his loving home and freed you from all pain Seeing you so peacefully, we could not wish you back to suffer it all again God's garden must be beautiful, for He only takes the best But you did not go alone, part of us went with you The day God called you home We will love you forever. Love from your family, Mom, Dad, husband Alex, brothers and sisters-in-law and Eldon, Clarence, Paige and Nitania
