RICHARD ALLAN CUSHNIE 1952 - 2003 It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my father, aged 51. He spent part of his childhood with the Cushnie's in Eriksdale. He later moved to Winnipeg and grew up with his second family, the Charlewood's. He had a son David in 1971 with his first wife, Valerie. He later remarried to Shelley in 1997. My father worked at The University of Manitoba for 25 years as a second class Power Engineer. He spent much of his time rebuilding antique cars, remodelling his dream cottage in Lac du Bonnet, boating and snowmobiling. He was a very creative person that wasn't afraid of hard work. I am very thankful for the mechanical skills as well as the many life skills that he has passed on to me. Please join me in celebrating his life on Saturday, September 10 at the Norwood Hotel Banquet Room, 112 Marion St., Winnipeg, 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. Any fond stories or memorabilia you may wish to share with everyone would be very welcome.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I did not hear about Richard's passing until this evening and was deeply saddened to learn of this tragic news. Been a long while since his passing and I must convey my sincerest condolences to his family. I knew Richard and Paul Charlewood quite well through high school at Glenlawn. We spent many a night just hanging out and being normal teens. Richard always had a smile on his face and always was a lot of fun to be with. Those were years of fun, excitement and just growing which led to who we became. We discovered many things together. From cowboy boots to girls, Vauxhalls to MGB's and to a '58 Pontiac, he was always pretty cool. I still remember when, as a teen, Richard announced that he wanted to be a Stationary Engineer. He set his goal early and achieved it. Rest in peace Rick and to quote you from about 1/2 a century ago, "...Lay Moose..." Only 3 or 4 of us will ever know what that really means. - Posted by: Steve Kupresak (Friend) on: Oct 30, 2019

  • I knew Rick when we worked together at the Canada Packers poultry division back in 1973-74. I remember Rick had a quick wit and sharp mind. He was also a very friendly and caring person who brought people together and had a smile for everyone. I truly enjoyed his company. Rest in peace, old friend. - Posted by: Guy Dumont (Ex Co-worker) on: Jul 02, 2018
