GERALD RUMBLE 1914 - 2005 Peacefully on August 31, 2005 at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg Gerald passed away. He was predeceased by his wife Alma Rumble (nee Henry) in 1983. Gerald was born in Grantham, England and came to Canada as a young child. His family settled in Toronto where he remained until joining the RCMP band in 1940. He held postings in Ottawa, Halifax, and several rural Manitoba communities. After retiring from the RCMP he returned to southern Ontario to become a teacher. He met his wife Alma while teaching, and after marrying they decided to make their life together in Headingley. In Winnipeg, Gerald taught band at Aberdeen Junior High and R.B. Russell High School. His favourite pastimes were reading and of course music, which led to his involvement with the Headingley United Church where he spent some time as their choir director. He is survived by his daughter Lisa as well as relatives in England and extended family throughout southern Ontario. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 6, at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. with interment and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra or the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation.
