Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOAN OLAF MANDRYK It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear Mother and Grandmother on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at the age of 72. Joan is survived by her daughter Barb, son-in-law Ron Knight and grandsons Christopher and Jeffrey, son Peter, daughter-in-law Sandy, granddaughters Madelyn and Rachel and grandson Jack. Also mourning her passing are her dear sisters, Gale (brother-in-law Richard Piasecki and nephew Paul) and Lois (nephew John and Nieces Lisa and Susie). Mom will also be sadly missed by her late brother's family, numerous cousins, special friends the Leskos, Marlene Burnett, Nadine Clarkson, Virginia Stewart and her Mandryk in-laws. Mom was predeceased by our father Nestor in 1995, her parents John and Loa Hokanson, her brother Ray and nephew Dean. Mom was born and educated in Selkirk. She began her working career as a teller and worked her way to manager with the Bank of Montreal. She then went on to book keep at several businesses such as Malis Motors, Gray's PVC Furniture and Selkirk Florist. She retired after many years as the manager of the Daerwood Motor Inn. Mom served as a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church Council, the Selkirk Marine Museum, the Waterfront Development Board and the Betel Home Advisory Board. Her grandchildren brought her great joy. She was so proud of their every achievement. She was wonderfully supportive of all of us. Always there to do whatever she could. She was more than pleased to step in as Mom or Gramma Joan to who ever needed her. All of her kids , Paula Hughes, Carol Bilinski, and families will surely miss her love and kindness. Our family will always appreciate flowers. However, if you wish to make a donation to either the Evangelical Lutheran Church Building Fund (Box 65, Selkirk) or the Heart and Stroke Foundation, that would be appreciated as well. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2:00 p.m. at the Selkirk Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Stan Richards officiating. We wish to thank the Staff and Dr. Manca of the Selkirk and District General Hospital for their kindness and compassion. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, In Care of Arrangements.
