Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALEXANDER GEORGE LAFORTE August 15, 1932 - September 2, 2005 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alexander George LaForte on Friday, September 2, 2005 following a lengthy illness. Alex leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife of 53 years, Evelyn and his children; Margaret (Glenn), Harold (Joanna), Robert, Jeannette (Rob), Isabelle, Roland (Toni), Alvin (Pat), Verne (Margaret) and Michelle (Danny). He also leaves in his memory his grandchildren whom were all very dear to him; Cora-Lynn, Myles, Trevor, Todd, Brittany, Shawna-Lee, Cory, Keith, Kyle, Dalton, Brianna, Danielle who was the sunshine of his life, his six great grandchildren and his constant and faithful companion Chummie. Also left are brothers Maurice (Noella) and Wilfred (Joan), brothers-in-law; Henry Courchene, Harold Fontaine, sisters-in-law Dora Guimond, Francis Anaquad, Margaret Courchene, Madeline Courchene and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Alexander Sr., mother Philomene, brothers Joseph, Frank and Napoleon, sisters Lorraine and Lorena, mother and father-in-law Joe-Michael and Elizabeth M. Fontaine, sisters-in-law Lucy Daniels, Irene LaForte and Mildred Courchene, brothers-in-law Jerry Anaquad, Allan Courchene, Joe Guimond, Frank Daniels, Henry Fontaine, Louis Fontaine and Uncle Phillip LaForte (WWII). Alex grew up in Traverse Bay and in 1957 he moved his family to Bissett. In 1965 he and the family then moved to Lac du Bonnet where they resided for the last forty years. Alex always provided and cared first and foremost for his family and was a hard worker at a very young age and throughout his lifetime. During his working years he was employed at a mink ranch and as a commercial fisherman, pulp cutter and mined many years in which he took great pride in working at the locations of Bissett, Tanco, Snow Lake, Dunbarton and the Underground Research Lab in Lac du Bonnet. His family was a great source of joy and he always loved teasing and sharing a joke. He will be remembered for his great sense of humour and curious nature. Alex enjoyed travelling, sports, working in the yard and the outdoors. He and Evelyn enjoyed their travel experiences to San Francisco, Hawaii, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Jamaica, Bahamas and all over Canada. Pallbearers will be his grandsons Myles, Trevor, Cory, Keith, Todd, Kyle and Dalton. Honorary pallbearers will be brothers Maurice and Wilfred, nephews Ben, Eugene, Leslie and Paul. Wake services will be held at the St. Alexander RC Church, Ft. Alexander, Manitoba beginning September 3, 2005. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. also from the St. Alexander Church with Fr. Jerry Sembrano officiating. Interment in the Parish Cemetery.
