Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNORA ROSE CATHERINE HARDY (nee MORTON) Nora Rose Catherine Hardy (nee Morton) died peacefully in her home in the Souris Personal Care Home on September 6, 2005 at the age 98 years. Nora, wife of Peter Hardy who died September 1, 1985, was formerly from Hartney, Grande Clairiere and Lauder MB. She leaves to mourn her five children (and all their families): Gabriel of Brandon and six children, Bob, Susan, Betty, Willy, Helen, and Carolyn; Andrew (Doris) of Oak Lake and three children, Don, Karen and Ken; Yvonne (Richard) of Three Hills, AB and four children, Debbie, Ken, Donna and Wayne; Rose Marie (Renato) Baschenis of Calgary, AB and three children, Michael, Jacki and Shelley; and Roger (Jeannette) of Winnipeg and Roger's three children, Dean, Stephan (Cory) and Bruce; and step-daughters, Sheila and Nancy. She also has 19 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. Nora is also survived by her three sisters, Eileen Ethier in Vancouver; Marguerite (Paul) Verry in Mississauga; Sister Anne Morton in Brandon; and two sisters-in-law, Josie Hardy in Dryden, ON; Elise Vinck of Grande Clairiere and Pauline Hardy of Hartney. Her brother John Morton is deceased. Nora, a stay-at-home mother for the most part, was well known for her deep love and caring for all her family, and for all the great friends she made over the years. She was a peacemaker. She was always ready for a good conversation and it never mattered to her who the other person was. She found everyone interesting. She carried herself with pride and her sense-of-humour was present right to the end. She conversed with the very young, the old and everyone in between. She made a lot of close friends and will be remembered long after she became blind. Nora was spiritual, faithfully attended church services and specially enjoyed prayer meetings and joyful fellowship and singing. She was an avid reader, and shared her special interests in health, medicines, cures and gardening. We enjoyed her telling about the prairie-chicken mating dance she witnessed as a young adult looking out into the yard from her window: about 50 chickens all in one big circle and flapping their wings and it was such a sight . She is especially remembered for all those incredible meals she prepared, her soups, freshly baked bread and awesome buns, sewing, beautiful gardens and for helping out in the community. She taught 4-H, was a member of the Royal Purple, The Catholic Women's League. She made numerous friends while visiting the community and selling Avon cosmetics. Funeral and burial services will be held at St. Jean Catholic Church in Grande Clairiere at 11:00 a.m. September 6. Fr. Darius will be officiating. Pallbearers are: Don Hardy, Ken Hardy, Bruce Hardy, Clair Hardy, Michael Morrison and Ken Hoffert. Funeral arrangements were with Kowalchuk's Funeral Home, Souris.
