TIMOTHY (TIM) TAYLOR Our family sadly announces the peaceful passing of our husband, father and grandfather, Timothy Taylor, aged 80 years, of Petersfield, beloved husband of Irene, on September 5, 2005 at the Selkirk District General Hospital. Tim was born on the family farm at Netley, MB on December 9, 1924. He served with the Canadian Armed Forces during the Second World War. Tim and Irene were married in 1951 and started their married life on the family farm. In 1959 Tim moved his family to Ashern, MB to begin his career as an Esso agent. Two years later they moved to Selkirk and operated the Esso plant for 24 years, retiring in 1984. Tim also found time to take an interest in local politics and served as Deputy Mayor for most of his 13 years on Selkirk Council. After retirement he spent nine years as Deputy Reeve on St. Andrews Council. Tim was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans, the Kiwanis Club and in his earlier years was an avid curler. Tim leaves his loving wife of 54 years, Irene; and his children, Tanis, Kerry and Debby; his grandchildren, Eddie (Becky), Billie, Amy (Dean), and James; as well as one great-grandson Darrion. He will also be missed by his brothers and sisters, Thelma Wawryk, Roy (Francis), Bill (Rita), Doris Veitch, and Harold (Liz); sister-in-law Mary Bowser; brother-in-law John (Ruth) Poschner and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents John and Winnifred; brothers-in-law Gordon Bowser, Peter Wawryk, David Veitch, Mike and George Poschner. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, September 8 at 2:00 p.m. in the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Selkirk with Pastor Dave Saude officiating. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion will form a Guard of Honour. Interment of ashes will follow at a later date in the St. George's Cemetery, Wakefield. The family would like to thank the first responders and the paramedics and the wonderful staff of the emergency at the Selkirk and District General Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Suite 200-6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
