Brian was born in Winnipegosis, MB, on December 9, 1946.After grade school, Brian began work for Manitoba Hydro. He met his wife to be, Wanda Pakulak and as destined they married in Winnipegosis on July 3, 1976.Brian's career with Hydro then took them to Thompson, MB, where eldest son, Bradley was born. From Thompson they moved to Laurier River and youngest son Warren was born during this time at Winnipegosis. Brian then moved with the family to Churchill, MB, on to Grand Rapids and finally to Thompson, where Brian retired after successful 29 year career with Manitoba Hydro, on June 15, 2001. With retirement, Wanda's career then moved Brian and herself back to Grand Rapids where they cherished each other's company and Brian started his second career with Frontier School Division as a teacher's aide. The kids challenged him as much as he challenged them.Theyenjoyed his sense of humour and his endless stories. It was a joy for Brian to go to work each day and then as he did with the kids at school, he would come home and share stories of his day with Wanda and friends. Brian lived and loved life to the fullest. He loved to hunt, fish, spend time with friends and family, especially cherishing his singing time with all. He loved to do yard work and think up schemes to bring laughter from others. He loved to putter around the house and yard, but most of all, he cherished his time with Wanda as they made plans or watched television. His grandchild was the little man of his life and time spent with Tommy and Wade brightened Brian's day, as did time with his sons and daughter-in-law. Brian loved family get-togethers, reminiscing of days gone by, either talking of some passed prank he had pulled, or the singing gatherings he shared with his siblings. Brian had a wonderful sense of humour and always tried to get a rise out of someone, somehow. Even the pet bird Tookee was not off limits when it came to Brian's loving aggravations. All of us will remember the smile on his face when he asked, Am I aggravating you yet? With a sparkle in his eye and a little elbow poke he would give you as he asked. He was always the prankster, bringing laughter to anyone who ended up being around him. Brian shared his humour, his grace and his humanity with all of us and he will be truly missed, as a brother, a husband, a father, a grandfather and uncle, but most of all as a friend. For no matter what your relationship was with Brian, he always treated you as a special friend. He will live on in our hearts, our minds and in our stories.... always. A memorial service will be held at1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 10 at theGrand Rapids Manitoba Hydro Recreational Hall, with Yvonne Ballantyne officiating.Service will conclude at the hall.
