MARGARET ROBERTSON NORRIE 1913 - 2007 Margaret was born in Greenock, Scotland, in 1913, the first child of William and Mary (Rae) Norrie. She died in Lions Personal Care Centre, Winnipeg on March 5, 2007. She was predeceased by her parents, by her nephews, Duncan and Mark Norrie and by her close cousin, Margaret (Rae) Howarth. She leaves to mourn her brother, Bill Norrie (Helen), Sheila Norrie and her children, Allison, Jennifer and Cameron, of Winnipeg and Dr. Fraser Norrie and David Clarke of Vancouver. Margaret graduated from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate Institute, took secretarial training at Success Business College, and was employed by Confederation Life Association from 1931 to 1978. She then worked for a number of years at the University of Winnipeg. Blessed with a lovely alto voice, she was fortunate to sing under the distinguished leadership of Berythe Birse, Herbert Sadler and W.H. Anderson in choirs such as the Oriana Singers, the C.B.C. Choristers, and church choirs. She was a soloist in high school operettas and sang with St. Paul's, Knox, and St. Andrews River Heights United Church choirs. At the time of her death she was a member of Westworth United Church. Margaret was also a gifted pianist and received her degree from the Toronto Conservatory of Music. For 69 years she was a member of the Patricia Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. She served as her chapter's Worthy Matron and also worked as Grand Secretary of the Order after her retirement. She always took great pride in the careers and activities of her brother, Bill, his wife, Helen, and their sons, Duncan, Fraser and Mark, plus those of Duncan's wife, Sheila and her children. As a young woman she enjoyed attending PALA Camp at Minaki and later at visiting Helen and Bill's cottage at Lake of the Woods. The family would like to thank the staff of the fourth floor, Lion's Personal Care Centre for their care and compassion. A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday, March 10 at 1:00 p.m. at Westworth United Church, Lanark and Grosvenor St. with Rev. Clark Saunders officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation or to UNICEF, Prairie Region, 323-112 Market Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3B 0P4. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
