AUGUSTO POMAREDA CARRASCO June 23, 1943 - January 9, 2011 Born: Oficina Iris, Chile Died: Winnipeg,Canada On Sunday January 9th, 2011 our beloved Augusto Pomareda passed away peacefully with his family at his side at Concordia Hospital. His dear mother Juana Garate who instilled in him a strong moral compass, predeceased him in 1975. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Soledad, his son Pablo (wife Samantha, grandchildren, Sami and Gabriel), daughter Juanita (partner Sarah). Augusto was blessed with a loving extended family that was at his side during his lengthy battle with diabetes. Thank you to all the Carrascos, Avalos, nieces and nephews and special friend Lily. Augusto was a teacher and was active in politics during his life. He was a member of El Partido Comunista of Chile, who immigrated to Canada in 1985. He was an active member of the Chilean community, an avid reader and had read 10,000 books in his life time. Augusto was well informed, collected clowns and roosters that brought him joy and a deep connection to his dear Chile. He was a proud son of the Chilean Pampa. He carried with him a piece of Chile in his heart to his last day which his family will return to Chile in the near future. Memorial Service and Reception will be held at Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler at Henderson Hwy., on Friday, January 14 at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Canadian Diabetes Association or The Winnipeg Chilean Association.
