ALBERT (BERT) STANLEY NICHOLLS 1926 - 2011 Peacefully on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at St. Boniface General Hospital Bert passed away at the age of 85 years. Bert will be remembered by his sons Kenneth, Richard, Bruce (Beverly) and daughter Susan (Jim). Bert will also be remembered by grandchildren Robbie, Crystal, Travis, Tyler, Darren, Curtis, Eric and Jenna and one great-grandchild Austin. He leaves to cherish his memory sisters Shirley and Sam Vertone, Gail Rogers and Bob, Cheryl and Wayne Rudyk, all of Winnipeg, as well as sister-in-law Helen Kilburn of Vancouver. Many nieces and nephews from Winnipeg to Vancouver and into the United States will fondly remember Uncle Bert. Albert was predeceased by his father Albert (Stan) Nicholls, mother Gladys Nicholls, wife Ruth, sister Ruth Foubister and special friend Rita Skagfeld. Many other close friends and family who have passed on before are sure to greet Bert with open arms. As a young lad growing up and the only son of the family, Bert knew he needed to secure a good life for his family. After being in the Tank Corps with the Armed Forces, Bert joined forces with Alan Franks to start their own business. Motor Parts and Supplies (Moparco) at 666 Arlington Street thrived through many decades. Bert, Alan and Gary were a well-known entity in Winnipeg and to this day Motor Parts is still remembered by customers from years gone by. To those who were fortunate to have known Bert during the Twin Beach days, there will be many smiles and chuckles at the good times and great stories to have come from the time that was spent with family and friends at the cabin. Bert left Winnipeg in 1991 to live in Lundar, MB. In April 2011, Bert moved back to Winnipeg and resided with his son Richard. Unfortunately time was short, but it was a time of reconnecting with family and friends, time that will now be cherished memories for all. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held on Monday, November 28, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. A special thank you to the Home Care team. We would also like to thank Dr. Klassen and staff at the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit for their kindness and compassion during Bert's short stay on the ward.
