SOPHIE KULLMAN With deep sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of our dear Mom, Sophie, on Thursday, June 14, 2012, at the age of 95 years. Sophie leaves to cherish her memory her daughters Carol (Alan) and Trudy, her sisters-in-law Sophie and Stella, and many nieces and nephews, both great and great-great. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles, of 61 years and her three brothers, Bill, Steve and Joe. Mom was a pillar of strength and a vibrant and talented woman. Her kindness and sense of humour were a testimony to her strength and integrity. She was best known for her devotion to her family, church and community and she was a hard worker all her life. Mom was a Past President of the Catholic Women's League and her interest in the C.W.L. did not wane. Her political affiliation was also important to her over the years and she spoke for the rights of others without fear of judgment. Her devotion to family was often expressed through her great cooking and baking skills and she will long be remembered for her special Holiday Swans . She was very creative and these expressions were often found in her sewing and in her petit-point work. Home, both in the city and at the lake, and family meant everything to her. Mom's working career began at an early age. The family business occupied most of her early years and as time went by she continued her involvement in the grocery chain. She held the position of Enumerator for Census Canada for a number of years as well. During the past number of months, Mom accepted her difficult struggle with courage and optimism and her pain is no more. The sense of grace and dignity that defined her remained present right up to her final breath. Thanks to family and friends for their continual visits. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul with Msgr. Enrique Samson presiding.
