

LORRAINE MARIE CLARA GERVAIS (nee BOULET) It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Lorraine Gervais on July 1, 2012 at the age of 61. Lorraine was predeceased by both her parents Leon and Alice Boulet and a niece Jennifer. She leaves to mourn, her loving husband Paul, her sibblings, Rheal (Ray) (Donna), Pierrette (Pierre) Fortier, Cecile (Rick) Barrett, Alain (Jocelyne), Norman (Judy), Daryl (Kristin). Nieces and Nephews Carmen (Rocky), Ryan, Kris (Jennifer), Tyler, Nicole (Shawn), Rachel, Daniel, Jordan, Sarah, and great-nieces and nephews Alexander, Aiden, Adria, Donavin, Abigail, Jason and Kaleb. Lorraine was born in Killarney, MB on November 14, 1950. She was raised West of Dunrea on the family farm for the first 16 years of her life. All of Lorraine's education took place in Dunrea until she moved to Portage la Prairie in 1967. She only lived in Portage for a few months before moving to Winnipeg to take a Home Ec course in St. Boniface for one year. In August 1969, she started working at St. Amant Centre and was there for 10 years. In April 1980, Lorraine was diagnosed with Kidney Failure, and was on dialysis for three and a half years, then on the dialysis machine for about nine months before she received her Kidney Transplant in March of 1984. Although she quit her job at St. Amant, it never stopped her from dancing. Family, Square and Round Dancing and Old Time dancing were very much an important part of Lorraine's life. In 1991, they started their journey to higher dance levels, and continued to dance at various levels with many of the present callers and cuers. As a couple they were actively involved in the dance community whether as square and round dance angels, dance presentations for clubs, demonstration dances at special events and personal care homes. Over the years, they have attended many Jamborees, and Square dancing events in Manitoba, Ontario, Alberta, and various places in the USA. Not only did they support Square and Round dancing at a local level, they have been actively involved in the Eastern Manitoba Square and Round dance Association as Historians since 1995. Since 1995 they have been involved in a variety of positions in addition to to their Historian role. For over 40 years Lorraine supported the dance community as a positive role model and mentor. Prayers and viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Winnipeg at 7:00 p.m. Address: 4588 Roblin Blvd, Winnipeg. Fellowship and refreshments with family to follow the prayers. Funeral Mass will be held at the Good Shepherd Catholic church in Portage la Prairie on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. The eulogy will take the format of a video presentation shown 15 minutes prior to the funeral mass, as well as viewing will take place prior to the service, please arrive to the church early to allow for the family to share memories of Lorraine with you. Fellowship and refreshments with family following the service Address: 1125 Saskatchewan Avenue East Both venues are wheelchair accessible. Burial will be held immediately after the Funeral Mass at Hillside Cemetery. The family would like to say thank you to all of Lorraine's care givers at the Health Sciences Centre. To the transplant Unit for their care and on going support for the past 28 years. We really appreciate it. Thank you to Monseigneur Maurice Comeault and Father Michel Nault for officiating at the prayers and funeral service.
