RICKY KIPLING

RICKY BRIAN KIPLING February 18, 1960 - July 7, 2012 Our darling brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend succumbed to his long term illness on Saturday, July 7, 2012, with his sisters by his side. Ricky was born on February 18, 1960 in Peguis, Manitoba. He lived at the Manitoba Development Center in Portage la Prairie since February 8, 1994. Ricky was predeceased by parents Mary and George; brother Norman; sister Jean; and by his grandparents, nieces and nephews. Ricky is survived by his brothers, Clifford (Anna), Len, John (Terry), Howard (Corrine), Wallace, and Bernall; his sisters, Margaret, Shirley (Jack), Diane, Linda and Bev; his sister-in-law Sheila; his aunt Agnes Sinclair; numerous nieces and nephews. Our family expresses our heartfelt thanks to M.D.C., doctors, nurses, all staff who assisted in the care and well being of Ricky. We especially thank Kelly Sweeny, Sheldon Hordenski and Jennifer McKelvey, head nurses of the homes at M.D.C. where Ricky lived. There will be a private funeral service at Anderson Family Funeral Home, 9 Railway Avenue in Ashern, Manitoba on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., with Jim Anderson officiating. Luncheon will follow after the service, special thanks to Gladys Yaroshinski for the catering. Interment will follow at St. Peters Anglican Cemetery in Peguis, MB. The Pallbearers will be Len Sitar, Gerald Sitar, Bob Manningway, Wayne Manningway, Lawrence Wilson and James Kipling. God saw you getting tired and when there was no cure to be found, He put His arms out to you and said Come home Rick. We love you our cutes hearts and will miss you forever.   • My sincere condolences to the Ricky Kipling family. We have cherished memories of Ricky and how he touched us throughout life. My experiences relate to his later years which I looked forward to his huge smile and brotherly handshake each morning. Some mornings were further expressed with Ricky giving me two thumbs up; indicative of his contentment. His eyes would engage me in a nature that was so personal, it felt like we were the only 2 individuals in the room, yet others were present. To start one’s day with such a positive experience was truly a privilege for me. The Chaplin at MDC reminds us to reflect upon our personal relationships and recollect the gifts we receive from others. Although these are not physical gifts, they are ones of life, such as how another individual touched us or taught us. Ricky’s gifts to me were to lead by his example of projecting a positive aura of a personal nature and to value family. I recall the excitement and joy I observed on Ricky’s face when he was surrounded by family during their visits and attendance at special events. When his health became more compromised; he reminded me of the strength of family; as I witnessed Ricky’ spirits improve dramatically in their presence. I reflect upon my memories of Ricky now and the future; to embrace and exemplify the characteristics and values he has bestowed to me.
