JOYCE JAWORSKI November 18, 1936 - July 17, 2012 Peacefully, after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family, Joyce passed away on July 17, 2012. Leaving to cherish her memory are her husband of 53 years, Bohdy, son Gary, daughter Theresa, grandson Connor, sister Fran (Leith) Cowan, brother Mike (Anne) Lucko, brother-in-law Jerry (Helen) Jaworski, many nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Steve and Mary Lucko, brother Donald, and parents-in-law John and Eugenia Jaworski. Joyce was born in Hazelglen on November 18, 1936. She attended Sunnyside School in Oakbank and United College (University of Winnipeg). She graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Winnipeg General Hospital School of Nursing and was promoted to a Head Nurse position within a couple of months. Joyce met the love of her life, Bohdy, at the hospital and they were married on July 4, 1959. To devote more time to raising a family, Joyce transferred employment initially to the Children's Aid Society then to the Province of Manitoba in the Income Security Department. She retired in 2001 after more than 25 years of service as an Assistant Director. Joyce had a green thumb and enjoyed both her vegetable and floral gardens. It was her love of flowers that led her and Theresa to begin designing floral arrangements for weddings and anniversaries of family and friends. Joyce became enthralled with orchids and soon joined the Manitoba Orchid Society (MOS). She became very proficient at cultivating various types of orchids and was honoured by being awarded with four American Orchid Society (AOS) awards. She was currently serving her second term as President of MOS. Joyce grew up in Oakbank and, as she was too young to work in the family grocery store, she was assigned the task of preparing meals for the family. She became a fabulous cook and enjoyed entertaining family and friends with delicious dinner parties. Joyce was an organized, generous and caring person. She was always ready, spared no effort and would move mountains to help someone in need. The family would like to express their appreciation to the doctors and nurses at the Health Sciences Centre for their excellent and compassionate care for Joyce. A special thanks to Doctors Ed and Al Buchel for guiding us through Joyce's illness. Prayers will be sung 7:00 p.m., Friday, July 20 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main Street. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 21 at Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 390 Marion Street with Fr. John Mostivsky officiating. Service will conclude at the church with a private interment to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Family Home, 165 Aberdeen Avenue or The Movement Centre of Manitoba Inc., 1646 Henderson Hwy.
