ERNIE LOMONACO It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ernest John Lomonaco, on Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at the Victoria General Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family. Ernie fought a courageous two year battle with leukemia, and was an inspiration to all. Remaining to forever cherish Ernie's memory are the love of his life Sharon, and loving daughter Tracey (Sam); sister Margaret Ragotte (Wayne), brother Ross Lomonaco (Kathleen), and many nieces and nephews including Stacey (Peder), Karen (Mike), Mark (Izabella), Kally (John) and Erin (Ryan). He was predeceased by his mother, Joanna, and father, Joseph. Ernie was truly one of a kind. Affectionately known as Mr. Wonderful , he always made an impression, and ensured no one would ever forget him. It was obvious to everyone how much he loved his family, particularly his wife, daughter, and dog, Bandit. Ernie was a passionate Winnipeg Blue Bomber fan and an avid salmon fisherman. Langara, B.C. was his favourite place on earth - a place that he visited annually for 24 years, many of those years with his best friend Harry Loewen (Inna, Julie, Domi). Together with his wife, Harry, and Domi, he enjoyed his last visit to Langara just two weeks before passing. Ernie was also extremely committed to and passionate about his work as General Manager of Winroc, where he worked for the past 36 years. Although the world's greatest procrastinator, he always gave 150%. Some of Ernie's other hobbies included fast cars, tools, electronics, and giving unsolicited opinions and advice. He was always a loving and caring husband, father, brother, and friend to all. We will love and miss you always! Special thanks to Dr. Kumar, Dr. Blouw, the nurses and staff at CancerCare, Health Sciences Centre, and Victoria General Hospital for their compassion and for making Ernie's journey a whole lot easier. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. A private family viewing and interment will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home.
