Harvey and Sima were high school sweethearts and married in 1942 to begin a loving 70 year marriage. He served as an Air Force radio operator in the Second World War. He returned home to have a long and successful career in business in the container and packaging industry at first in partnership with his father Joseph N. Kay and then his son Ian A. Kay. Throughout his life he was leader in many philanthropic and community projects dedicated to cultural, educational and societal aspects in Manitoba and Canada. He was a fine athlete excelling in football, soccer, swimming, bowling and curling. He loved the beach and especially our cottage - Brookdale - in Winnipeg Beach. He and Sima built a cabin called - Post Time - in Lac Du Bonnet on the Winnipeg River. They loved going there as a retreat and provided it as a vacation and fishing spot for family and friends. He truly enjoyed people and his ability to make a room light up with his charm, spirit and presence was legendary. The family wishes to thank his care givers while at Shaftesbury and those who gave such expert and kind care for him at Grace. No other deeds in his life of greatness became him more than his noble conduct in the leaving of it .
