ELEANOR HEAD (nee POMRENKE) 1920 - 2012 With deep sorrow we announce the passing of Eleanor Head on October 9, 2012 at Park Manor Personal Care Home, at the age of 92 years. Eleanor was born in Emerson, Manitoba on July 23, 1920. As a young woman, Eleanor met her husband to be during harvest time on the farm and eloped to Winnipeg in 1940 where she married Sydney (predeceased in 2002). Eleanor was also predeceased by her brothers, William and Herman Pomrenke. She leaves behind her brother, Howard (Alice) Pomrenke. Eleanor loved cooking, baking, gardening, sewing, golfing and playing bingo at the Community Centre. She worked at the Windsor Park Golf Course Café for several years. Eleanor will be greatly missed by her daughters, Marilyn (James) Thoroski, and Bonnie (Jean, deceased) Labossiere, and her youngest daughter, Nancy Head (deceased), as well as her grandchildren, James W. (Stephanie) Gibat-Thoroski, Krista Thoroski, Denny (Christa) Thoroski, Alicia (Mike Guarino) Labossiere, Shawn Head, Michelle (Guardian), Gerald and Chad Millan. Eleanor also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Nicholas Thoroski, Wesley, Diesel, and Aeson Gibat-Thoroski, Sidney Thoroski, Camryn Labossiere and Luke Guarino. Eleanor truly enjoyed her life, her family and her friends. She will always be remembered for her great sense of humour and all the fun we had at our family gatherings. We will truly miss her but our memories will be with us forever. Eleanor's last years were spent at Park Manor, where the residents, nurses and staff gave her a home full of love, laughter and caring. For all the nurses and staff who took care of Eleanor through her comfort and palliative care, the family thanks you all for the exceptional care and dignity with which you helped Eleanor and the family through a very difficult time. Viewing will be Monday, October 15 at 1:00 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway. A private service for immediate family will be held. In lieu of flowers, if anyone wishes, donations may be made to Park Manor Personal Care Home, 301 Redonda St., Winnipeg, MB R2C 1L7, or to a charity of your choice. • If you already received this, I apologize...computer malfunction. We would like to express our deepest sympathies to you and your family. To lose a mother is not an easy thing! God Bless! - Posted by: Bob and Clara Lauze (brother and sister in law) on: Oct 15, 2012

  • Auntie Eleanor always was my favourite aunt and my brother, Larry, will say that as well. When we lived in Ontario as kids we would come to Winnipeg for our annual vacation with Mom and Dad and stay with Auntie Eleanor and Uncle Syd. We always looked forward to those summers as we knew it would be a fantastic time. They always kept us in stitches and although I had not seen Auntie Eleanor in the last few years I am so glad to hear that she kept her wild sense of humour. To Bonnie, Marilyn and families, I am so sorry for your loss but please take comfort that your Mom will be fondly remembered and sorely missed. - Posted by: Arlene Pomrenke (Niece) on: Oct 15, 2012
