MALCOLM CLARKSON COOK The family wishes to announce the passing of Malcolm Cook, peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre, on January 20, 2016 following a brief illness. Malcolm was born in Winnipeg on December 7, 1954 to Donald and Muriel Cook He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Janie Law, his mother Muriel Cook, brothers Bruce (Janet), and Hugh (Arlene), nephew Fraser, nieces Kathleen (friend Kurtis) and Lauren, brother and sister-in-law Bill and Kathy Reid, nieces Krista (Matt) and Margo (Justin) and great-nephews Carter and Easton. Malcolm was predeceased by his father Donald, mother-in-law and father-in-law Theo and Jack Law. Malcolm attended the University of Manitoba Agricultural Diploma program, inspiring many life-long Ag friendships. Malcolm farmed for a number of years with his family in the Ridgeville District and participated on the executive in Keystone Agricultural Producers when it was first formed. When Malcolm left farming, he entered the insurance industry, and was quickly promoted into Claims management. Malcolm's self-determining approach to business led to an expanding insurance career, culminating in the acquisition and operation of his own insurance brokerage. Malcolm served as a Director of the Kiwanis Club of Winnipeg, where he enjoyed his contact with many other members. Malcolm's personal enjoyments included welding, fabricating, and repairing Oliver tractors, usually acquired through his attendance at auctions. Malcolm and Janie traveled extensively and enjoyed their personal passions including cooking, collecting antiques and their love of animals. Malcolm will be remembered for his sense of humour, usually embodied in dry one-liners. His relaxed support ensured a strong personal bond and made him a favourite uncle. A celebration of Malcolm's life will be held Friday, March 11, 2016 at Assiniboine Park, Qualico Family Centre at 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Winnipeg Children's Hospital or to a charity of your choice.
