We are deeply saddened to share that our beloved mother, Shirley Ann Schlag, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 14, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was predeceased by her parents, Douglas and Doris Brasch; and her brother Gary. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Trent (Jackie), Dana (Cory), and Tracy (Paul); her five grandchildren: Callie, Eric, Ella, Owen, and Hazel; and her siblings: Ray (Cathy), Lois (Ross), Kathy (Ivan), Jim, and Darcy (Erin), along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Born on October 15, 1952, in Grandview, Manitoba, Shirley moved to Winnipeg after high school, where she worked as a hospital clerk. She met Clifford in October of 1972, and they married in May of 1973.
Mom celebrated her 70th birthday in October 2022. The following summer, she was diagnosed with terminal cancer. She faced her illness with strength and grace, always protecting and putting her children first—right up until her final breath.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Selkirk Cancer Care team for their compassionate care over the past two years, and to the Pine Falls Health Centre staff for their support in her final days.
A Celebration of Life will be held on October 4, 2025, at the Eagles Club No. 3870, 3459 Pembina Hwy, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., with speeches beginning at 2:00 p.m. A light lunch will be served.
