JOYCE ANN BURNS
Peacefully at Oakview Place our beloved mother and grandmother, Joyce Ann, died on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at the age of 90 years.
She will be lovingly remembered by her son Michael (Wanda) and grandchildren Patrick and Nicole (Scott); daughter Maureen (Duncan) and grandchildren Dylan and Holly; and son Matthew (Lori) and grandchildren Neva and Charlie; sisters Elizabeth Anger and Janice Conroy; dear cousins, nieces, nephews and cherished friends.
Joyce was predeceased by her husband John Lawrence (2001) and their son John Patrick (1988). She was also predeceased by her parents and her brother Robert.
Joyce was born on January 16, 1935, in Dauphin, Manitoba to Bessie Irene Mather and Thomas Johnson Bradley, and enjoyed a full active and happy life growing up there. Upon graduating from Dauphin Collegiate in 1953, she went onto St. Boniface General Hospital School of Nursing and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1956. It was at the wedding of a co-worker at Holy Cross Church in St. Boniface, where Joyce met her future husband, John. They were happily married for 42 years.
A funeral mass in celebration of Joyce’s life will be held on September 24, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 2400 Portage Avenue with Rev. Fr. Barry Schoonbaert presiding. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery 3990 Portage Avenue.
Joyce’s family would like to acknowledge and thank the caregivers and staff at Oakview Place for the kindness and care given to Mom over this past year.
Flowers are gratefully declined, if friends so desire remembrances in Joyce’s name may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation Inc., 675 Mc Dermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB.
