I was 16yo when a Luxury white car with beautiful blonde woman driving arrived to pick Jack up from work and he introduced me to his wife Julie. She was gracious and kind and soon after they invited me for home cooked meal (mmm yummy). That delicious home cooked meal with love and warmth of Jack & Julie’s home was sharp contrast to the attic room I shared at my boarding house. We became lifelong friends! To this day I treasure 60+ years of memories, including the honor of being asked to be godfather to their daughter Deb. It’s hard not to get tearful thinking of Julie’s many kindnesses, I will miss her very much!. Just knowing she was among us gave me comfort only old friends can understand. To this day being welcomed in to the Vanderploeg family is greatest honor of my life. - Posted by: Gary Kerwin (Old friend and godfather to Debbie) on: Sep 20, 2025
