It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, Haruko Helen Miyata, at the age of 93 on October 29, 2025 at Meadowood Manor, in Winnipeg
Haruko will lovingly be remembered by her family: daughter, Tannis Steiman and son-in-law Mark Steiman; grandchildren, Max, Miya and Jack Steiman; as well as her daughter-in-law Christine Miyata (Rob); grandchildren, David (Janelle) Miyata, Colin (Joie) Miyata, and Domenic Miyata; and great-grandson, Quinn Ji Miyata. Her gentle passing will also be mourned by her sisters-in-law, Yoneko (Nobuo) Matsubara, Yoshiko (Tadao) Matsubara; as well as her Matsubara niece and nephews and their families. Haruko was blessed to have a loving extended family and she will be missed by the Hamade, Kirby, Sugiyama and Kudo families.
Mom’s life was lived with kindness, tenderness and patience and all who knew her remember a gentle soul. She was courageous and hardworking, creative, and had a great sense of humour.
Haruko’s family is very grateful to the staff who cared for her in her final years at Beacon Hill and Meadowood Manor. We will always remember how patient and kind you were with our mom.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring in Winnipeg; family and friends will be notified.
A photo biography honouring Haruko’s life is accessible through the 'tributes' link below.
