It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Lawrence Kevin Myers (Laurie) on November 2, 2025 at the age of 67.
Lawrence was a beloved son, partner, stepdad, Pops, brother, uncle, and friend. He is predeceased by his father Gerard (Gerry) Myers; his mother Lylah Myers and brothers-in-law Brian Law and Alan Mancer, and niece Caitlin Mancer. Left to mourn is the love of his life Cheryl Tuck; stepdaughter Amy Tuck (Paul); brother Don Myers (Val); sisters Pat Law and Kate Mancer; brothers-in-law Bob Tuck (Sherry), Keenan Tuck, Gary Tuck (Lana); nieces Robyn Law (Israel), Katrina and Gabriella Myers; nephew Stephen Mancer (Alycia); and affectionately known as Pops to grandkids Tucker and Newry; and lifelong and dearest friends Al (Sue), Doug, Danny, and Warren.
Lawrence was born in Calgary and lived the rest of his life in Winnipeg. Growing up in St. Vital, he attended Hastings School then went on to graduate from Dakota Collegiate and attend both University of Winnipeg and University of Manitoba.
Lawrence worked for the Canada Revenue Agency as a young man but realized a 9-5 office job didn’t provide the flexibility and freedom he wanted. He then spent the rest of his career at Buhle Painting & Decorating working alongside his brother Don, where everyone knew him and his big headphones, and unsafe, rickety wooden ladder.
Lawrence was known for his excellent sense of humour and quick wit, even venturing out and performing stand up comedy. His topics were ahead of their time, something he was very proud of. He had a way of telling stories that made you laugh so hard your stomach hurt and he could play to a crowd and was always the funniest one in the room. Anyone that knew him also knew his sensitive side and affinity for animals, especially the other love of his life, their cat Smokey. He wasn’t afraid to share french fries with a raccoon or two in a parking lot or take a break from work to simply watch the deer.
He was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed spending time watching games with his mom, brother, and friends with many hours spent in Doug’s garage. Lawrence was a kind person with no enemies, but he did have one nemesis - the internet! He missed the old days when he could tell a story without it being fact checked mid-sentence.
A special thanks to the staff in the SICU at the Health Science Centre.
A celebration of life will take place Friday December 5, 2025 at Tapp’s Neighbourhood Pub from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., 1105 St Mary’s Rd.
