Maria Telma Pereira passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025. She was born in Pico, Azores on March 28, 1937 and came to Canada in 1960. She moved from Calgary to Winnipeg to be part of the lives of her grandchildren Reid and Saige, whom she loved very much.
Maria’s favourite pastime was watching Reid, Saige, and their friends eat the lunches she prepared when they came over during school. People were always welcome in her home and lots of them ended up calling her Avo. She will be missed by her only son Vic; her grandchildren Reid and Saige; daughter-in-law Candace; and many others. Maria was a caring and loving wife. She worked hard for her entire life and is now at peace along with her husband Joao (John).
Services will be held at Holy Rosary Church on River Avenue. Condolences start at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 15. The eulogy and mass will begin at 10:00 with a reception to follow. The live stream can be accessed via the following link: https://youtube.com/live/BX-zauiKpSs?feature=share
