JUERGEN J. HARTMANN

It is with profound sadness and broken hearts we share that Juergen J. Hartmann passed away November 4, 2025, at Concordia Hospital.

Juergen leaves behind his loving wife Loretta, brother Arend (Marianne), sister Anneliese (Herman), brother-in-law Arthur (Margaret), his much loved nieces and nephews. He mourned the loss of his dearly loved son Arthur, his parents, Juergen and Arendine, his mother and father-in-law Elsie and Arthur Lazier, his sister Annemarie, his brother Gerard (Audrey).

Juergen was born December 10, 1942, in Norden, Germany and immigrated to Canada in July of 1954. The family moved, settling in Pineridge where Juergen grew up and was among the first students to attend Springfield Collegiate. He continued his education becoming a Registered Psychiatric Nurse and at the University of Manitoba earning his degree in Social Work. He had a long and successful career with City Social Services, retiring as Acting Director.

Juergen enjoyed his career but what he really loved was his family and friends. He loved the home he built for his family. He had many and varied interests - camping, fishing, hunting, helping on the farm, curling, a good book, but especially his racing pigeons. His racing pigeons were his lifelong hobby and brought him so much joy.

Juergen was an outgoing person and made friends easily. When he and Loretta spent winters in Arizona, he made a whole new set of friends. These friendships lasted after he and Loretta quit travelling. He valued all his friendships, but he cherished his old and dearest friends. His eyes lit up and he perked up when they visited him in hospital.

He was such a lovely man. Juergen will be missed by so many - family, friends especially, Neil and Ellen, Camille and her family, neighbours, former colleagues but most of all by his loving wife. He always had a special bond with his brother-in-law Arthur. He will leave an immeasurable void in our hearts.

As per Juergen’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will take place at Seasons Funeral Chapel in Oakbank on November 14, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.
