STEPHEN KLEM

Peacefully with his family by his side Stephen passed away Monday, November 3, 2025, at the Seven Oaks Hospital.

Born Stephen Michael Klem October 15, 1950, in Toronto to Steve and Doris (Kutzy) Klem.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Carol (nee Midford), daughter Kasey, son Kelly (Amanda) and their son Cooper, (the greatest joy in his life), his sister Darlene Kolafa, brother-in-law David Midford (Tillie) and their son Kent (Francis), and daughter Kerry. Also his Kutzy cousins and their families. He was preceded by his brother-in-law Bill Kolafa (2020).

As a youth, Stephen played and excelled at Sports, especially hockey. He attended UND, then started his teaching career at Garden City Collegiate. Later he taught at the Maples, then back to Garden City, where he retired from teaching at the age of 55.

His retirement years were spent with Summers at the Cabin at Twin Beaches, his son’s place in Kelowna and their Winter getaway at Pine to Palm in Weslaco, Texas, where many friendships were formed.

As an early morning riser, he could be found with his clipboard full of crossword puzzles, which he completed while sipping his morning coffee. Every day he could be seen riding his bicycle a couple of times a day up the beach road, sometimes checking out garage sales.

He had many interests especially sports, fishing, cooking, and trying new pickle recipes. Some more successful than others. He enjoyed cooking and always travelled with his binder full of recipes which he loved to share with others. He was a great neighbour, always willing to help or volunteer, be it at the Cabin, Kelowna or Texas.

We love you and you will be sorely missed.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Cancer Society. Cremation has taken place and there won’t be any formal service.
