Surrounded by family, Nelson passed away on March 15, 2026, at the age of 82 years, after a short hospital stay. He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 58 years, Jacqueline; children, Susan (Nigel), Paul (Darlene), Michelle, Robert, and Marc (Robbie); grandchildren, Julia, Ricky, Jaden, Brooke, Rushawn, Tysa, Darius, and Madison; great-grandsons, Dominick, Kayden, Dallas, and Damien; great-great-grandson Malakai; his sister Arlene (Jim); sisters-in-law, Marguerite and Terry; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Nelson was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas Gushuliak and Mary Krawesky (née Onysko); his brother Dennis; and grandson Jeremy.
Nelson taught in Winnipeg, Cross Lake, and Elm Creek before working more than 30 years with Indian and Northern Affairs. He was active in the Knights of Columbus and volunteered for many years with Swim Manitoba as an official and president. Nelson enjoyed travelling, especially to Canada's East Coast and Costa Rica.
A Celebration of Life will be held April 18 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Charles Parish, 320 St. Charles Street.

Our sincere condolences to the Gushuliak family . We knew Nelson when our kids swam with the St James Seals and Manta . Nelson was always a kind, dedicated person with a great sense of humour .
