WILLIAM (BILL) BROWN September 1, 1931 - September 3, 1999 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of William Brown, 68 years, on September 3, 1999. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 44 years Susan and his daughter Gladys, son-in-law Brad Gardiner of Lasalle; son Lyndon, daughter-in-law Nancy of Winnipeg and his three special grandsons, Nelson Brown, Andrew and Brett Gardiner who he loved to spend time with. He will also be sadly missed by his brothers, Abe (Gertie) of Winnipeg, Norman (Dorothy) of Winnipeg, Gordon (Mary) of Austin, John (Ann) of Hazel Ridge; sisters, Mary Neufeld (Dave - deceased), Helen (Wes) Unrau of McGregor. He was predeceased by his mother and father and five brothers and two sisters in infancy. Bill was born in Saskatchewan in 1931. He moved to Austin at an early age where he grew up on the farm. He moved to Winnipeg in 1952 where he started his career at National Motors. In 1955 he began his own service station at Victor and Ellice and then in 1964 he bought Burnell Motors where he had the British Leyland, Rolls Royce franchises. Then in 1971 he purchased Motor Sales Inc. on Main Street, where he operated Jaguar, British Leyland, Volvo and several other franchises. He was President of the Manitoba Motor Dealers Association and was voted Time Quality Dealer of the Year. He was a director with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for several years. He was an avid football fan. Bill was president of the Manitoba Club and was a member of the St. Charles Country Club where he especially enjoyed the commeraderie of his Tuesday and Saturday golfing friends and was always the first to tell a great story. Bill was a long time Rotarian and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was President of the Fort Garry Rotary Club and truly enjoyed helping others. Dad loved his family and enjoyed any opportunity to get together. He will always be remembered as a great husband, father, grandfather and friend. His many stories and his positive outlook on life will stay with us forever. Dad had a very deep Christian faith and appreciated his church friends and especially his care group. We thank everyone for all their prayers and support. We would also like to thank the Nurses and Doctors in ICU at the Victoria General Hospital, especially Dr. Scott Young. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. at the Grant Memorial Church, 877 Wilkes Ave. I have a place in Heaven Please dont sing sad songs for me Forget your grief and fears For I am in a perfect place. Away from pain and tears, I have a place in heaven With Jesus at my side. My life on earth was very good, As earthly lives can go. But Paradise is so much more Than anyone can know My heart is filled with happiness And sweet rejoicing too. To walk with God in perfect peace, A joy forever new.
