MARINA PITTET (nee LAFRENIERE) It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of Marina Pittet on Saturday, March 25th at Lorne Memorial Hospital in Swan Lake. Marina is predeceased by her sister Anita. Left to cherish her memory are Henri, her husband of 33 years; her children, Lisa and husband Oliver, Marc (friend Colleen), Aimee and Melanie (friend Derek) her parents, Roland and Claire Lafreniere; sisters, Jacqueline (Murray), Elliette (Denis), Lise (Alan), Ginette, and brother Claude (Donna) brothers-in-law, Gerald, Leo, Roland, Normand, Ronald; sisters-in-law, Lorraine, Jeanine, Alice, Donna and Carmel; numerous nieces and nephews; cousins and dear friends. Without a word of complaint and always with a smile on her beautiful face, Marina faced the challenge posed by her severe and sudden illness with grace and serenity; qualities so admired and part of everything she undertook. Throughout her life, Marina has touched the lives of many. Her teaching career, spanning over 30 years, has left an inspiring impression upon former students who, through the years remember her warmth and compassion. Teaching was her passion. Even when diagnosed with a brain tumour, she wished to commit what little time she had left to the students and staff she loved so very much. Her complete selflessness and willingness to help others will always be remembered - her legacy will live on. Her inexhaustible energy and enthusiasm were her greatest virtues. Marina loved life and loved all those who readily entered her life. She embraced married life and motherhood openly and never needed to remind her family how much she loved them - the sparkle in her eyes and warmth of her smile said it all and more. Should you feel at a loss for words, please do as Marina did: welcome each new challenge with a smile and a song and be thankful for all the days that have gone. "Love you forever", sweet Marina. The family would like to thank Dr. Bruneau and all the staff at the Lorne Memorial Hospital for their professionalism and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marinas memory may be made to the Mountain School Division Foundation c/o the Marina Pittet Spirit Award at the Somerset School, R0G 2L0 or the Mountain S. D.
