MARY LUBA (nee DERLAGO) Peacefully, on Friday, May 17, 2002, Mary Luba passed away at the Grace General Hospital, at age 87, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Mary was born in the Glen Elmo area north of Rossburn, on August 28, 1914. She married Stephen Luba of Angusville in November, 1936 and together they farmed in that area until 1960 when the family moved to Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her husband in 1983 and son Adolph in 1990. Mary is survived by and will be lovingly remembered by her children and grandchildren, Lawrence (Sylvia), Karen (Patrick) and Brenda; Stephanie (Elliot), Joe (Shannon) Randy; Gayle, Lana and Gregory; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Tierney and Max. She is also survived by her sister, Natalia Gensiorek, her brother, Charles Derlago, both of Rossburn; her sisters-in-law, Ann Luba, Mary Luba, Elida Doig and Lena Derlago; along with many nieces, nephews and godchildren. Mom (Baba) was an excellent cook and she delighted in entertaining. We all looked forward to Sunday dinners and especially the "care packages" she gave us when we left. She loved to crochet and knit and we all have many items of her handiwork. She was very proud of the accomplishments of her grandchildren and kept up to date on their activities. Prayers will be said on Monday, May 20 at 8:30 p.m. in St. Basils Ukrainian Catholic Church, 202 Harcourt St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 21 at 10:00 a.m. also in St. Basils Church, with Rev. Fr. Isidore Dziadyk, O.S.B.M. and Deacon Nicholas Kohuch presiding. A private family interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave. Our family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Oscar Domke, the many nurses and especially the volunteers at Grace Hospital who kept mom company during her last days. We also thank Fr. Isidore and Deacon Kohuch for their many visits and to all family and friends who visited, sent cards and flowers, and offered their prayers. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Marys memory may be made to St. Basils Church Elevator Fund, Grace Hospital Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of ones choice. "Eternal Rest Grant Unto Her O Lord!
