CHARLES BROWN October 24, 1934 - June 26, 2004 It is with great sadness that the family of Charles Brown announces his passing. Charles leaves to cherish his memory, his wife and best friend Lauraine; his children, Tanis (Shan) and Daniel (Deanne) grandchildren, Hunter Rene and Noah Riley; his sister Annette Turk. Charles was predeceased by his mother and father, Elizabeth and Alfred Brown, and his sister Agnes (Winnie) Walker. Charles was born in Scotland and immigrated to Canada at the age of two and a half years and made East Kildonan, Winnipeg his home. He was very proud of his son and daughter and his greatest joys were his two grandchildren. Throughout his lengthy illness, Charles maintained his sense of humour and continued to make his family laugh; his strength and courage in the face of adversity were admirable. Charles was the Superintendent of the City of Winnipeg Traffic Signals when he retired in 1991. Charles was a Past Member of Beaver Masonic Lodge, a member of the Khartum Circus Committee; a Past Potentate (CEO) of the Khartum Shriners; a member of the Board of Governors of the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Twin Cities Unit (Minneapolis). Charles was a member of the St. Andrews Society of Winnipeg and an original member of the Kildonan Canoe Club. MISS ME BUT LET ME GO When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom filled room, Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not too long And not with your head bowed low, Remember the love that we once shared. Miss me but let me go. For this journey we all must take And each must go alone, For its all part of the Masters plan, A step on the road to home. So when you are lonely and sick at heart Go to the friends we know, And bury your sorrow in doing good deeds, Miss me but let me go. As per Charles wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial service on Wednesday, June 30 at 1:30 p.m. at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave. (Entrance on Aubrey Street). Charles and his family are grateful for the wonderful and compassionate care provided by all his caregivers throughout his last years of life; Cancer Care MB and Palliative Program. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Khartum Shriners Transportation Fund at 1155 Wilkes Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3P 1B9. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
